Hatchlings

Nursery Admissions Policy and Registration Form

Information

Here at the Hatchlings we offer an exciting, vibrant and inclusive learning environment with a positive ethos and a warm family atmosphere. The Hatchlings class operates within one large play space as part of Coopers Edge School. Children can explore the main play room, the vast outdoor area, the cloakroom and the office/sensory room, throughout the session. Our free-flow environment allows children to access the outdoor area throughout the day and in all weathers.

The school’s fantastic facilities enable us to offer a wide range of experiences outside of the nursery environment such as forest school, the field, the village square, the school hall, the trim trail, the playground and the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) as well as the use of additional resources such as musical instruments, gymnastics apparatus and equipment for various subjects.

Our highly qualified, experienced and caring team are committed to providing the highest quality care and education. The dedicated Hatchlings team follow a blended approach to planning and observing; some activities are planned for in advance whilst others are delivered ‘in the moment’, increasing levels of engagement which lead to high quality play and interactions.

We follow a flexible routine which is designed to encourage children to socialise with others and develop social skills through sharing, turn taking and practicing positive behaviour. Children also learn the importance of taking responsibility; making choices and developing their independence throughout the session.

It is our aim that every child attending Coopers Edge Nursery is made to feel welcome and secure, therefore we offer a comprehensive settling in process for all of our new starters. We work in partnership with our families, bridging the gap between the children’s learning at home and at nursery via daily informal conversations, formal parent’s meetings, the Hatchlings blog, wow vouchers and learning journeys.

The Hatchlings Nursery Class is part of Coopers Edge School and is guided by the main school policies and procedures. We welcome children from 3 years of age and work closely with the reception team, participating in most school activities and events. Please note that attending the Hatchlings DOES NOT guarantee children a place at Coopers Edge School.

We offer sessional childcare as well as a lunch club; session times are as follows:

8:45 – 11:45 - The morning session

11:45 – 12:30 - Lunch club

12:30 – 15:30 - The afternoon session

The morning sessions are reserved for preschool aged children (children who will turn four within the academic year). The afternoon sessions are for preschool and rising three aged children (children who have turned 3 within the academic year).

Lunch club costs £5 per day and is available for children attending both sessions. We accept the 15 hour funding and a limited number of 30 hour funded places. For children who are not yet eligible for funding or for any additional sessions, sessions are charged at a rate of £15.

Please refer to the nursery admissions policy for more information on the allocation of nursery places.
